tour boats new york

For beautiful sea views and photographs of the New York skyline then a visit would not be complete without taking one of the many New York tour boat rides across the East River or Hudson River and around the Island.

circle line boat tours
The circle line New York tour boats have been in operation since 1945 and have two separate tours one departing from 42nd street and the other from downtown Battery Park. The 42nd street New York tours offer a variety of different sightseeing options including special live music and DJ cruises. Aside from these special packages their schedule includes a three hour complete island cruise, two hour semi-circle of the Island, a two hour harbour lights cruise, a 75 minute cruise to Liberty island and back and their Beast speedboat ride. Circle Line's New York tour options all depart from Pier 83 on West 42nd Street and 12th Avenue (nearest subway station is the Port Authority Bus Terminal Blue Lines A, C & E).

The Circle Line downtown schedule is more specifically geared towards New York tourism with cruises from Battery Park to Liberty Island and Ellis Island as well as narrated sightseeing boat tour of the entire island. These water New York travel tours depart from either South Street Seaport (nearest subway station is Fulton Street Green Lines 4, 5).

new york water taxi tours
New York Water Taxis also operate around the island offering a range of different transport options for both commuters and sightseers. From Spring to Autumn you often see many water Taxi New York boats circling the Island as they operate a Hop On/ Hop Off service. The New York water taxi service also offer seven harbour tours including eco cruises, Greenwich village, lower Manhattan as well as Gateway to America which shows the major sites of New York including Liberty and Ellis Island.

staten island boat ferry
The most economical way to view the lower Manhattan skyline is to get onto the Staten Island boat ferry which regularly departs from South Ferry to Staten Island. The ferry traverses daily passing Liberty Island and Ellis Island on route to the Island. Rides are free and take approximately 20 minutes each way, but you will have to disembark at each end whether or not you intend to visit the Island. The nearest Metro station is on the Green Line No 5 till the South Ferry terminal and Staten Ferry entrance is a short walk away.

When planning your New York holidays why don't you visit Expedia and see what discounted boat tours are available during your visit or visit Circle Line and New York Water Taxis and plan your trip online.
